Too Good To Be True
Imagine you owe a bank one million dollars but you only make around ten dollars a month in salary. You know that there is no way you can ever pay the debt you owe, yet the stress and guilt of the debt causes you to keep paying what you can when you can.
To say the least that would be a miserable way to live.
Now imagine that one day you receive a personal letter from the owner of the bank and the letter says,
Dear ______,
I’m writing you this letter to notify you no longer owe me anything. Your debt has been cancelled because I have made arrangements with someone very close to me and He has paid your debt in full. You now owe nothing and you are free. I would really like for you to get to know me and the man who paid your debt. We are celebrating the fact that your debt is paid and we are inviting you to celebrate with us.
Sincerely, _______________
Now imagine you read this letter and come to the conclusion that the message of the letter is simply to good to be true so you continue to allow the stress and guilt of the debt that has already been paid in full to keep you miserable.
I think you get the point.
